If you are an avid off-roader then selecting the right winch from all these winch brands can be a real nightmare.

Lots of people may suggest to go for some pricey options.

But I think otherwise.

If you can find something handy without spending too much, there is no point in going for the pricey ones.

Badland winches offer exactly what I’m talking about. They are inexpensive but excels in quality and performance.

In this Badland winch review, I am going to cover 6 top-notch winches manufactured by Badland. While reviewing, I will mention their good sides, bad sides, and my suggestion too.

So, without any further talking, let’s see if they are worth the money or not.

Top 6 Best Badland Winch Review

1. Badland 18000 lb Capacity Industrial Truck Winch Review

Pros

  • Easy to mount and operate.
  • Using it with little care makes it highly durable.
  • This winch offers 75 feet steel cable going through a high-quality roller fairlead. The length and quality of the cable are quite good I must say.
  • It comes with a well functioning wired (30feet) remote control.
  • Competitive price considering the capacity.
  • Controlling this winch is even easier with the help of three-stage planetary gear, automatic load-holding brake, and free spooling clutch.
  • IP66 rated. Meaning water projected in powerful jet won’t damage the winch.
  • It comes with a handy relocatable solenoid box.

Cons

  • I expected a wireless remote control coming with the package at this price range. But unfortunately, you have to buy it separately. Maybe they did it to reduce the base price.
No doubt, Badland 18000 lbs is a real badass. As the capacity is 18000 lbs, you can use this winch for recovering your vehicle or anything that weighs up to 18000 lbs.

However, to get the best result without breaking the winch cable, I recommend you to use it for recovering/towing any weight up to 12000 lbs(vehicle+baggages weight combined). Better to be safe than sorry.

Why?

It’s a good practice to keep the loaded weight of the vehicle 1.5 times less than the weight capacity of the winch. If your winch capacity is 15,000 lbs then you can pull up to 10,000 lbs weight safely.

**The loaded weight = the vehicle weight + the weight of any belongings you are carrying inside the vehicle.

Though this winch comes with a corded remote control, you can buy the Badland wireless remote control to make your life easy. Sometimes the wireless remote lags though.

This one is IP66 rated. Nonetheless, the remote control switch is not water-resistant. So, be careful with that.

As I said this winch offers 75 feet high-quality steel cable. It doesn’t bunch up in one spot during the operation.

Being said that, you must be aware that a steel cable can cause serious injury if it breaks under load. So, you should use a dampener blanket to avoid such a situation.

Overall, this very winch is a good and fairly affordable option for commercial rigging, towing trucks or house moving.

A few users believe this one is a bit overkilling for automobiles. I don’t agree with them fully, don’t disagree with them either. It depends.

You’ll need some accessories while winching. Check my recommended winch accessories list, these will surely make winching much safer, faster & easier.

2. Badland ZXR 12000 lb Electric Winch Review

Pros

  • Not overpriced.
  • Easy instruction manual.
  • Easy assembling and wiring.
  • Equipped with high-quality 65 feet steel cable going through a roller fairlead for smooth winching operation.
  • It comes with a 12 feet corded remote control that works flawlessly.
  • You can control the winching easily as it comes with three-stage planetary gear and a free spooling clutch.
  • An automatic load-holding brake makes it even easier to control and ensures safety.
  • IP66 rated.
  • Handy relocatable solenoid box.

Cons

  • The steel cable length and the remote control cable length could have been a bit longer.
  • Pulling is a tad slow.
  • No wireless remote included(have to buy separately).
This 12k lb Badlands ZXR  winch is capable of towing a vehicle weighing below 12000 lbs. To get the best result you should restrict your vehicle’s weight up to 8000 lbs.

This one doesn’t have a wireless remote in the box too, you have to buy it separately. If you want to use this winch regularly, better buy a wireless remote control. The same wireless remote that I mentioned earlier goes with this winch too.

During the towing process, the steel cable aligned nicely on the spool. That means you won’t face any hassle during the operation.

I think considering the quality, performance and price, Badland ZXR 12000 lb is one of the best winches out there for the money. You won’t regret buying this one if you are looking for a 12000 lb capacity winch.

In case Badland winches are out of stock when you are reading this review, you can check similarly priced winches I reviewed like the Speedmaster winches / X-bull winches / Smittybilt winches / Offroad Boar Winches

3. Badland 9000 lb Electric Winch Review

Pros

  • A strong and easy to install winch with plenty of power.
  • The motor doesn’t get too hot for a long pull.
  • It comes with a quality corded (12 feet) remote control that works without any issue.
  • You can control the whole winching process without any hassle as this winch offers three-stage planetary gear and free spooling clutch.
  • Like the other models, this one also offers automatic load-holding gear for safety.
  • It comes with a quality relocatable solenoid box.
  • 65 feet steel cable that goes through a roller fairlead works perfectly.
  • IP66 rated. Meaning it’s water-resistant.

Cons

  • The length of the remote cable is quite ok. Being said that, I wouldn’t mind seeing it a bit longer though.
  • It doesn’t have a wireless remote control included with the package.
This particular Badland winch is another quality option that is capable of winching 9000 lbs of weight.

But as per the recommendation, you should keep the weight of the vehicle within 6000 lbs. Otherwise, you won’t get the best result.

To make your life easy and comfortable while recovering, better use a wireless remote control. But it’s up to you. The wired one works fine, no issue.

The steel cable works well. No bunching up in one spot during the pulling process. Nonetheless, like some other users, I also believe it could have been a bit longer.

All in all, this one is a good electric winch if you are looking for a 9000 lb capacity option.

4. Badland 3500 lb ATV Winch Review

Pros

  • Compact.
  • Not too heavy to carry.
  • Easy to install and operate.
  • It comes with every required wire.
  • Affordable price.
  • It comes with a handlebar control (8 feet) and a handheld remote control (12 feet). Both work flawlessly.
  • Like the other models of Badland winches, this one also offers free spooling clutch and automatic load-holding brake for smooth winching.
  • Equipped with 50 feet steel cable going through a roller fairlead that doesn’t cause any hassle during the operation.
  • IP67 rated.

Cons

  • Wireless remote control with the package would have been a great addition.
  • I prefer synthetic rope to steel cable for any ATV/UTV winch.
Badland 3500 lbs winch is particularly made for towing UTV/ATV or utility.

To get the optimum performance you should use this winch to tow your vehicle or utility if it weighs up to 2333 lbs.

Unlike the other models, this one is equipped with single-stage planetary gear. Which I believe is a common feature for most of the ATV winches.

This particular winch doesn’t require too much power.

Have you noticed this one is IP67 rated? Meaning it’s one step ahead of the previous models from Badland. It has protection against the effects of immersion in water up to 3 feet. This is something I have always wanted from any ATV/UTV winches.

As per as the pricing is concerned, this winch offers a competitive price against the capacity and quality it provides.

5. Badland 2500 lb ATV Winch Review

Pros

  • Compact.
  • Lightweight (only 14 lbs) compared to the other winches. A perfect weight to carry along.
  • Worth the money without any doubt whatsoever.
  • It comes with a wireless remote control with the kit. Finally, you don’t have to buy it separately for this model.
  • Memory timer to turn the winch off after certain minutes.
  • Equipped with 50 feet steel cable which I believe is quite substantial for towing ATV/UTVs.
  • Controlling the operation is a cakewalk because of the free spooling clutch and automatic load-holding brake.

Cons

  • The remote could have been slightly better.
This 2500 lbs electric winch is another ATV/UTV/utility specific winch produced by Badland.

As you can see it is capable of handling any weight below 2500 lb. Best for towing your UTV/ATV if you keep the gross weight of your vehicle up to 1666 lbs.

The wireless remote control works well within the 20 feet range.

I prefer a synthetic rope to steel cable for an ATV winch or a UTV winch as it makes the winch even lighter. Also, a synthetic rope doesn’t cause serious injury if it breaks under load.

Being said that, I believe this one is the best bang for your buck if you are looking for a 2500 lbs winch.

Let’s watch a video overview of this badland 2500 lb winch:

6. Badland 1500 lb 120V AC Winch Review

This 120V AC volt winch is capable of pulling up to 1500 lbs horizontally.

As per my findings, it excels in quality and performance, no doubt.

The Tethered up-down control works without any issue whatsoever. The control is quite large to grip and the buttons are big too to press comfortably.

Badland 1500 lbs winch comes with heavy-duty 35 feet steel cable going through a hawse fairlead this time.

As per as the pricing is concerned, I believe it’s a bit pricey compared to the previous one.

Altogether, this is a powerful winch for pulling up anything horizontally like a motorcycle or a boat.

Final Words

Let’s recap.

In this Badland winch review, I’ve left no stone unturned to find out the good and bad sides of these winches.

I tried to deal with the core factors that will help you to make the buying decision.

Whether a particular winch is worth the money and how well it is capable of serving the purpose are some of the main concerns I always check.

To me, Badland winches are some good quality winches that I would buy without spending a fortune on some other popular brands like Warn. I’m ok with some of the hiccups that I mentioned. These are not anything major honestly.

Now it’s your turn to make the decision.
